Warning: Contains Spoilers for 'Deliver Me'

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN: The first season of 'Deliver Me' aka 'I dina händer' started streaming on Netflix on April 24, 2024, and fans who have seen the first season have been wondering if there is a second season being made for the Swedish series.

'Deliver Me' is written by Alex Haridi and is based on Malin Persson Giolito's novel. Anna Zackrisson has directed this series with a cast that features some experienced actors and a few new faces in important roles. The cast includes Olle Strand, Yasir Hassan, Yusra Warsama, Mohamed Abdirahman Koje, Solomon Njie, Ardalan Esmaili, Ane Dahl Torp, Mattias Nordkvist, and others.

The series tells the story of two young boys Douglas Arnfeldt (Olle Strand) and Bilal Ali (Yasir Hassan) who work for a local criminal Mehdi Bah and get trapped in a violent world they are not ready for.

The season ends as both Bilal and Douglas are dead, Farid Ayad (Ardalan Esmaili) is left contemplating his decision, and Leila Ali (Yusra Warsama) has left the country under witness protection with her family. Every plot point seems to have been resolved and the story that the makers wanted to tell is probably already told in the mini-series. So, will there be a second season for 'Deliver Me'?

'Deliver Me' aka 'I dina händer' has been billed as a mini-series consisting of five episodes so the possibility of it being renewed remains extremely low.

There has been no official announcement from Netflix or the makers of the series about a possible season 2 being in the works so it seems that the series ends with the first season.

However, the fans of this series shouldn't be completely disheartened as we have seen mini-series being renewed for a second season in the past based on public acceptance and overall reception. If the series gets universally acclaimed, the streaming numbers may convince Netflix to look at a possible second season.

What could be the plot of 'Deliver Me' Season 2?

While the story of Douglas and Bilal has reached its conclusion, it could be possible that Farid Ayad's (Ardalan Esmaili) character faces a similar case in a continuation of his character or a spiritual sequel to the season. The makers have shown him as a character who is sympathetic towards criminals and passionate about trying to keep children away from crime.

In addition, the second season might explore the backstory of Farid Ayad. They are yet to touch upon the reasons behind his empathy for criminals. There is very little exposition in Season 1 so another season may help the viewers know more about Farid.

The season ends as two more children are shown to be caught under the web of the criminal world. The second season could explore them and may also take Mehdi Bah's (Solomon Njie) story forward after he spends his time in prison.

'Deliver Me' aka 'I dina händer' Season 1 is streaming on Netflix from April 23, 2024.
